TUFF JEFF SALEN AND THE SILENCERS PREPARE TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM

Legendary New York guitarist, Tuff Jeff Salen, is ready to re-enter the pop genre with his newest release Love and Trouble. Salen originally came to prominence with New York punk pioneers Tuff Darts and their international hit single, “All For The Love of Rock And Roll”, which Jeff wrote. Love and Trouble follows last year’s critically acclaimed blues based The Endless Road. This new album is a more commercial collection of radio friendly pop songs. Although Salen continues to perform occasionally with a re-formed Tuff Darts, his current band who appear on this album is The Silencers, a collection of young, local musicians Jeff respects and wanted to work with.

The Silencers are led by guitarist Johnny Black, an already familiar name in the NY music scene. In addition to his musical endeavors, look for Black on a couple of the final episodes of The Sopranos where he appears at the Borgata playing poker with Tony Soprano. He is also busy working on a film about late NY Dolls guitarist Johnny Thunders with Sopranos regular Michael Imperiolli. In addition to Black, The Silencers include drummer Rob Tommy Gun Benson, a popular local musician who has toured internationally with percussion groups, Chuck Hancock on sax who has worked with the Young Rascals, and The Worms among others, and bassist Michael Mighty Mac Slymme, another popular local musician Salen and Hancock had played with before in an R&B band called The Elements.

Produced by Salen and Diamond Dupree, Love And Trouble will be released in May, 2007 on Fountainebleu Entertainment, with the first single, “A Boy Chases A Girl” already released to radio.
